We all have basic needs just to get by in this world — a place to lay our heads, food, decent company and activities to keep us occupied or to give purpose and meaning to our lives. All this is important and makes for an enjoyable life. However, depending on where you start off in life, all those things aren't very easy to maintain, let alone attain. Enter anxiety and an obsession for things.
I want to point your attention to Mark 4:18-19, where Jesus is going through the Parable of the Sower. In this particular passage, He explains that many of us know the Word, have received it and put it into practice at some point in our lives, but the incessant pursuit of the fleeting comforts of the world strangles the fruitfulness of the Gospel out of our lives. We could even carry the appearance, behaviours and rhythms of a Christian, but the saltiness is gone and our light doesn't shine quite as bright.
Remember Matthew 6:25-34 and know that your life is well considered and your needs are catered for by a compassionate God (Exodus 34:6) who provides for your wellbeing in ways this world cannot begin to comprehend.
